Tech Team Spotlight - Bethany Ayer

We’d like to turn the spotlight on Bethany Ayer, MOT, OTR/L. We don’t know how Bethany manages to do all the things she does in a day: in addition to the clinical Master’s degree she already has, she is also obtaining her MBA (she will graduate in December 2022!!), works PRN, has a growing family, and manages bi-coastal visits with her family between the East and West coast. Bethany works on many of the EMR components of Ambiki such as the tools that help us communicate with customers and the tool therapists and organizations will use to handle their billing.

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I am originally from Vermont and I currently live in the San Diego area.

Tell us a little about what you did before joining the Ambiki team!

I have been an OT for ten years, during which time I have worked in multiple settings. I’ve spent the majority of my career in teaching hospitals working with the adult population. I then transitioned to pediatrics in 2018, specializing in the helmeting and treating of torticollis and plagiocephaly in infants.

What led you to become a therapist?

I love people and have always had so many interests! OT seemed to encompass all of them.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I went to school at the University of New England for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I am also currently working on getting my MBA. I studied Health Sciences (undergrad) and Occupational Therapy (graduate).

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love anything active and outdoors, running, hiking, waterskiing, soccer, and basketball. I love traveling and spending time with my family.

How long have you been a part of Ambiki? What do you do?

I started with Ambiki in early March. My title is Clinical Solutions Architect but as with everyone here I wear many hats 😊

How do you hope to improve the field with Ambiki?

I hope to bring a helpful OT perspective as well as discover what is most meaningful to therapists everywhere at a time when burnout is so high. Ambiki has such an incredible vision. It is my hope that Ambiki will be a passport that allows therapists to create their own practices much more easily (should they want!). As someone who loves freedom and possibility, I am so excited to see the different ways therapists tailor Ambiki to what is most meaningful to their treatment approach.

What do you love most about Ambiki?

I love being a part of such a wonderful team that genuinely wants to support therapists and assist clinicians in making their professional lives more efficient AND rewarding (which can be hard to find these days!).

What is something you learned about technology as it relates to therapy that you did not know before?

There is so much intention, planning, detail, thought, and psychology that goes into technology and design that has been such a pleasant surprise.

Read Bethany’s profile to learn more about her. Send us a message and tell us what you would like Ambiki to do (and see our feedback and communications tool – which is one of the items Bethany worked on).
