Summary by Persona (Grouped by Role)
👩⚕️ Clinicians / Therapists
- Therapists will benefit from faster loading of plans of care, evaluations, and the home page. Practices can also customize how many days therapists have to complete notes and billing before payroll runs.
🧑💼 Admins
- Admins can access Fast Pay from more billing pages, adjust payroll deadlines, and benefit from more accurate patient balances and insurance payments. Several dashboards and reports now load faster.
💳 Billers / Guardians
- Billers: The old Ledger has been retired, Fast Pay is easier to access, and billing updates improve how Medicaid, Early Intervention payments, insurance write-offs, and deleted visits are handled.
- Guardians/Patients: Patient balances more accurately reflect insurance coverage, payments, and credits, helping prevent patients from being billed before other coverage is processed.
🛠️ Update - Old Ledger Retired
👥 Audience: Owners, admins and billers
🛠️ Steps to Access: None
📢 What's new?: The old Ledger has been retired as announced. Patient balances and ledger history are now shown in the Ledger tab on the patient profile. Please contact support if you need any help or training on the Ledger.
🚀 New Feature - Fast Pay Available from More Billing Pages
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff
🛠️ Steps to Access: Requires the "Create patient invoice payment" permission and a Professional plan.
📢 What's new?: Fast Pay is now one click away from the patient invoices page, the consolidated invoices page, a patient's Invoices tab, and the aging report, making it quicker to collect outstanding balances. Fast Pay also now lists the oldest outstanding balances first, so the balances that have been waiting longest are at the top.
🛠️ Fix - Names Display as Plain Text
👥 Audience: Everyone
❗ Issue: Names are now always shown as plain text, and names can no longer contain the characters < or >.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🚀 New Feature - Customize Payroll Deadlines
👥 Audience: Admins
🛠️ Steps to Access: Organization settings, Payroll settings tab
📢 What's new?: Practices can now choose how many days therapists have to finish notes and billing after each pay period before payroll runs.
🛠️ Fix - Patient Balances Held Until Medicaid or Early Intervention Coverage Is Processed
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff
📅 Date range affected: N/A
❗ Issue: When a patient had Medicaid or an early intervention program on file for a visit's date and that plan had not been billed, the patient's share from another insurer's remittance could be billed to the patient. The share is now held until that plan is billed or its coverage is ended before the visit.
✅ Action Steps: If the patient's Ledger tab says a visit's share is on hold for a plan on file, send that plan's claim from Ambiki or enter its payment, or set the payment method's end date to before the visit. A payment the patient already made toward that share shows as a credit on their balance until that plan pays or denies the visit, or its coverage is ended before the visit. Do not refund it before then: if the share ends up the patient's, that payment covers it.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Home Page Loading
👥 Audience: Staff
❗ Issue: We made the home page load faster.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Resources and Activity Lists
👥 Audience: Everyone browsing resources and activity lists
❗ Issue: We made the resources and activity lists pages load faster.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Loading of Plans of Care and Evaluations
👥 Audience: Therapists and anyone viewing plans of care or evaluations
📅 Date range affected: Since mid-October 2026
❗ Issue: We fixed an issue where plans of care and evaluations could be slow to open.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Ledger Report Loading
👥 Audience: Practice owners and billers who use the Billing dashboard
❗ Issue: The ledger report on the Billing dashboard was slower to load than it needed to be.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Billing Dashboard Triage Tab
👥 Audience: Practice owners and billers who use the Billing dashboard
❗ Issue: The triage tab on the Billing dashboard could be slow to load.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Early Intervention Payment Adjustments Appear on Part C Statements
👥 Audience: Billers at practices using Early Intervention programs
❗ Issue: When insurance took back a payment on a visit the county had already paid, the remaining balance did not appear on a later Part C statement.
✅ Action Steps: None. The balance now appears on the next Part C statement, marked as a balance from the earlier month.
🛠️ Fix - Early Intervention Payments Use the Program's Rate
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff
📅 Date range affected: N/A
❗ Issue: When an early intervention program paid toward a visit another insurance had already paid, its payment was not always measured against the program's own rate on file. Program payments now count up to that rate, and anything past it shows as owed back to the program.
✅ Action Steps: None. Amounts shown as owed back to an early intervention program can be refunded to the program as usual.
🛠️ Fix - Insurance Claim Write-Offs No Longer Clear Patient Balances
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff
📅 Date range affected: N/A
❗ Issue: Writing off an insurance claim could also clear an amount the patient owed for the visit. A claim write-off now clears only what the insurance was expected to pay, and what a patient owes stays with the patient.
✅ Action Steps: To forgive an amount a patient owes, write off the patient's bill rather than the insurance claim.
🛠️ Fix - Insurance Payments Remain on the Ledger After a Visit Is Deleted
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff
📅 Date range affected: N/A
❗ Issue: When a visit was deleted after insurance paid for it, the payment dropped out of the patient's ledger. The ledger now keeps it: on the visit of the same day the claim belongs to, or as owed back to the insurance when no visit takes it.
✅ Action Steps: Where the ledger shows an insurance payment owed back for a deleted visit, document the visit again on its date of service, or ask the insurance to take the payment back. A visit's claim status can change once a claim from a deleted visit on the same day moves onto it.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Revenue and Payment Reports on the Billing Dashboard
👥 Audience: Practice owners and billers who use the Billing dashboard
❗ Issue: The revenue and payment breakdowns on the Billing dashboard could take a long time to load.
✅ Action Steps: None. Last month's breakdown is ready each morning. For any other date range, the page shows that the report is being prepared and fills it in when it is ready. Each report shows when it was last updated.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Insurance Company Patient Lists
👥 Audience: Practice owners, billers and staff who look at insurance companies or patient lists
❗ Issue: An insurance company's patient list could be slow to load, especially for payers with many patients.
✅ Action Steps: None.
