The Technical Mind of the Therapist

PTs, OTs, and SLPs consistently face unique challenges. Their schedules are overflowing with high productivity standards, meetings, emails, parent follow-ups, and care plans (to name a few), leaving little to no downtime. Software or technical inefficiencies and disconnections can derail a therapist's day and add insurmountable stress.

However, many of these therapists have brilliant ideas on how software or medical technology can be improved to better suit their patients and their own efficiencies and stress levels. Therapists often demonstrate superhuman time management skills and empathy, both of which can be useful in software development and technology.

After polling over 90 therapists across the nation, wonderful ideas arose on how therapists can better serve those they treat and, equally as important, help their own stress levels when managing busy caseloads. Below are two of the major requests therapists voiced and Ambiki’s mission to honor and cultivate these functions into our products moving forward.

System Integration

Whether it was a challenge in a current software system or a request for a future one, over half of the therapists polled either disliked that they had to use multiple platforms for different functions (notes, scheduling, billing, etc) or they had requests for a software system to integrate all of these abilities for the provision of a more manageable workflow. Here at Ambiki, we aim to fulfill these requests by creating a platform that integrates teletherapy, an EMR (Electronic Medical Record), therapy tools, and a way to network professionally. Since many of my Ambiki teammates are therapists, we know firsthand the challenges of managing multiple platforms.

Simplicity

Therapists face complex challenges daily, and we echo the survey responses that crave simplicity in their documentation systems. Our teletherapy platform has many features (such as a whiteboard, reactions, click beacon, etc)  that allow therapists to keep the creativity of their sessions while simultaneously being able to document without having to open another tab or software.

We want your Feedback

Ambiki is constantly seeking therapist feedback to improve our platform and understand the pain points and joys that come from innovative treatments and complex cases. We invite you to share your experiences with us, particularly as they relate to encounters with technology and software. You can do this by emailing me directly at bayer@mysidekicktherapy.com or by completing this 3 Question Survey. Our mission is to improve lives by making service delivery as integrated and simple as possible. We do this best when you join us.
