How to customize treatment modifiers and make edits to treatment reports
Treatment reports hold the billing details for each visit: the billing code, units, duration and any modifiers for every service. This article explains how to change the billing code on a service, add or remove a modifier, and update units and duration. It also covers what to do afterward so the patient's invoices and claims match your changes.

Q&A
Q: Why don't I see Edit in the Actions menu?
A: Editing a treatment report requires permission to manage treatment reports. Ask your practice administrator to check your permissions.
Q: I changed the billing code, but the insurance claim still shows the old code. Why?
A: Saving the treatment report does not change insurance invoices or claims that already exist. See Reinvoicing a treatment report for how to update them.
Q: The billing code I need isn't in the dropdown. What should I do?
A: The dropdown lists the billing codes set up for your practice. An administrator can add the missing code in your billing settings.
Q: Can I remove a service from a treatment report?
A: You can click Remove service on any service except the first one. A service that already has payments applied cannot be removed, and shows "Cannot remove (payments applied)" instead.
