A visual schedule helps patients predict what is going to happen and helps them focus on the task at hand during therapy easing transitions along the way. Therapists use visual schedules to:
- Show the steps needed to complete a task
- Work with patients in CDC classes who have more complex communication needs
- Provide a schedule for the session
- Reward behavior
- Teach a task
There are different ways you can use visual schedules in Ambiki
- Use a visual schedule you have created in your Ambiki profile for in-person sessions
- Use a visual schedule you have created inside Ambiki's teletherapy platform:
- Create visual schedule on the go within Ambikis' teletherapy platform.
- Use a visual schedule that someone else has created and shared publicly for an in person or teletherapy session
How to create a visual schedule
You can create a new visual schedule by visiting: https://ambiki.com/visual-schedules/new . You will give the visual schedule a title and description, and you will then choose a template. Visual schedules and their features will be carried over to teletherapy as well if you are using the Ambiki teletherapy platform.
Template
Ambiki currently offers four different templates to choose from when making a visual schedule, including Plan -> Completed, First -> Then, Check off, and Trash Can. These templates determine the manner in which tasks will be completed on the schedule. For example, you may have a patient who likes to see the tasks crossed off for the session. Alternatively, you may have a patient who prefers to see the tasks dragged and dropped into a trash can when completed.
Add Cards
Cards are the images you and the patient will see on the visual schedule. Select a card/image from our preloaded library or upload your own to use.
Display Options
You can also choose to display only the images and title of the image, the image only, or the title of the image only. These customization tools allow you to create the perfect schedule for the needs of the patient you are working with.
Subtask Type
Subtask type refers to different features you can add to your visual schedule. You do not need to select a subtask type, however they are additional customization tools should you want to include them.
Image Reveal - You can choose to add an image that will slowly reveal itself as tasks are completed. You are also able to select what image you want to be revealed by selecting one from our image library or by uploading your own.
