How Do I Use The Goal Bank and Create My Own Goals?

How Do I Use The Goal Bank and Create My Own Goals? image
Ambiki's goal bank was created so that clinicians don't need to re-invent the wheel and start from scratch every time they write patient goals.
You can find Ambiki's goal bank here: Goal Bank

How does the goal bank work?
The goal bank contains a goal framework created by other SLPs, PTs, and OTs and includes short-term and long-term goals. You can use the filters on the right side of the goal bank landing page to find the type of goal that you need for your patient's needs (i.e., articulation, AAC, expressive communication, balance, motor planning, ADLS, and more). Once you have selected a goal, you can use the selections on the right side of the screen to customize your goal before copying it to the clipboard. You will also find the focus areas that have been tagged with the goal and similar goals for you to use.

Can I create a new goal if I don't find a goal in the bank that fits my needs?
Yes, go to the Ambiki Goal Bank and select 'Create New Goal.' You will go to the goal-building tool. The purpose of the goal builder is to create a goal framework so that you can easily adjust the goal over sessions with different targets, accuracy goals, etc.

The goal builder has several components to help make creating goals easier. The buttons at the top of the creator (patient name, percentage, integer, phoneme, etc.) will populate braces that form the framework for your goal. You can then go in and highlight them (who, skill, context, measurable, reason, time frame) so that they are checked off the goal component checklist. Once you have selected one of the goal components (for example, patient name), a box will appear below to input specifics (i.e., your patient's name - Jane). The purpose of this format is to make an overall goal framework that can be used for multiple patients or multiple sessions, with the ability to customize the goal each time. (See pictures below)

The goal components checklist - the checklist shows you the key goal components that should be included in your goal. When you create your goal, use the highlight features (who, skill, context, measurable, reason, time frame). These items will be automatically checked off the checklist for you.

Horizon - you will determine if the goal is a short-term goal or a long-term goal.

License - you can select if the goal was created under a license. If this is a goal you have created without a license - you can choose 'No License.'

Focus Area Tags -   you can select the focus area tags you want to tag your goal with and then tank the focus areas based on how relative they are to the goal you have made. For example, you may have created a goal related to speech therapy, articulation, and substitutions. This helps categorize the goal for easy discovery and link it to other relevant materials.

Will the goals that I create be public?
After creating the goal to 'make public,' you will have the option. An admin will review goals for approval and then add them to the library.

Why wasn't my goal approved?
If the admin does not approve your goal for public use, it is likely because there is already a very similar goal that exists in the library. The purpose of this is so that there are not too many similar goals in the public library, making it easier to browse and find what you need.
