CAQH (Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare)

Type: acronym

CAQH is an online database that stores your provider information. As a provider, you grant access for insurance companies (BC/TCS/AG/UHC) to see that you are in good standing in order for them to credential you. Your license information, ASHA information, NPI, and company liability policy, etc. is kept there. The insurance companies use this when you are first credentialed, but they also re-credential you every three years. This is why we have to re-attest to your profiles every quarter. Re-attesting shows that nothing has changed and you are still in good standing. The insurance company checks your information and you maintain credentialing without ever knowing they re-credentialed you.
