    • Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? I celebrate it with my family. We will have a turkey with all the trimmings. This year, we are going to my grandparents’ house. We will use three modes of transportation to get to Grandma’s house.

    • The Christmas Party was fun. I saw the Nutcracker ballet that night, so I was running late. Nevertheless, they were still trimming the tree when we arrived. He was hanging mistletoe (with care) beside a beautiful red poinsettia. The tinsel icicles made a mess last year, so they used tinsel garland this year. We brought some Frankincense incense that we bought online. I tried the eggnog latte and the gingerbread. He ate the head on the gingerbread person! The nativity scene at the house was elaborate. This was a December to remember.
    • The next year, the Wampanoag, a Native American tribe, taught the colonists how to grow crops. The Native Americans taught the pilgrims or colonists what food grows well in the area including potatoes, corn, tomatoes, cacao, peppers, papaya, pumpkin, and avocados. Once the crops were ready to be harvested in the fall, they had a feast for 3 days to celebrate the good harvest. This is considered to be the first Thanksgiving.
    • Winter Solstice is when half of Earth is tilted the farthest away from the sun. It usually occurs on December 21 or 22. Winter solstice is known as the shortest day of the year due to the least amount of sunlight. On the winter solstice, if you stand outside at noon and look at your shadow, it will be the longest shadow you cast the entire year.
    • Now, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year. On the national holiday, people all over the country come together in their homes and towns to celebrate what they are grateful for and consume different Thanksgiving meals including turkey and potatoes.
