How to Add a Patient's Payment Method


To add a patient payment method, please note you will need to add the payers your practice works with before you can select them as payment sources on Ambiki. Please see this FAQ for more information: Ambiki Help - Set Up Insurance Billing | Ambiki . If you generate facility invoices for these services, they must be added as a Location in Ambiki. 

  • Once you have completed those steps, you can then add the payers to patient's profiles. 
  • Open the patient profile you wish to add the payment method for. 
  • Click on the 'Payments' tab
  • Go to 'Payment methods' and click 'Edit' 
  • Select from the 'Billable Party' dropdown.
  • You can select from the insurance companies you previously entered on Ambiki, a facility your practice provides services at, or you can select 'Self' which will indicate a self-pay method and allow you to add a credit card. 

To add a Credit card 
  • From the 'Billable Party' dropdown, select the patient's name or "Self". 
  • Click on "Add a Credit Card Through Stripe" 
  • Note: The Stripe interface will open and bring you to Stripe's website to set up your account if you have not done this already. You must finish completing your profile on the Stripe website before you can add a credit card or charge a credit card through Ambiki. 
  • Once you have set up your Stripe account, you will be able to add credit card payment information, which then can be charged through Ambiki. 
  • Click Save Patient to save the changes. 
  • Patients can also add payment methods through the Patient Portal by going to Patient Billing and adding a payment method.
